Important COVID-19 Update - Grades 10 -12 classes moved to online learning

November 23, 2020

Dear Parents,

Please be advised that effective November 24 - 30, 2020 (inclusive) grades 10-12 students at Peace River High School (PRHS) will be moving to at-home learning. This decision was made because of confirmed positive COVID-19 cases at the school.

Given the number of students and staff impacted by the positive cases, we are unable to maintain safe classes in grades 10-12 for the next few days. Several staff who have been close contacts of positive cases will need to self isolate which is resulting in not having enough teachers or substitute teachers available to safely support all our classes.  Your child’s teachers will be in touch soon to discuss how we will support your child’s learning during the self-isolation. In-school classes for grade nine students who have not had close contact with the positive cases will continue until further notice.

Parents of all students believed to be close contacts with the confirmed positive cases have been notified.

Out of respect for the individuals, compliance with the Freedom of Information and Privacy Act, and in accordance with Alberta Health Services (AHS) guidelines, we cannot disclose personal details. Our thoughts are with these individuals and we wish them a speedy recovery.

We understand this news can be distressing for your child and your family and assure you that we will continue to take all steps necessary to ensure the well-being of our school community while following the guidance provided by AHS. Thank you for your part in keeping our school community safe. If you have any questions, please call the school at 780-624-4221.
